Sarah Marrow

Director of People & Engagement, de Poel group

“The role of Director of People & Engagement was a new one when I joined in July 2014, which was partly what attracted me to the position. It gave me the opportunity to shape the HR provision within the group. The recruitment process was thorough – I completed aptitude and online essay proofreading psychometric tests, submitted a 3 minute video introduction and attended two interviews. I soon found that decisions are made quickly at de Poel group; it is a fast-paced environment that offers something new every day.”

Stacey Duff

Project Manager, de Poel

“I started at de Poel just over 2 years ago and although my day-to-day role has stayed the same I have enjoyed a great deal of variety. As a project manager at de Poel, I have been given the opportunity to work across a number of different sectors ranging from private and NHS Healthcare to Public Sector Councils and Education, ensuring that my project management skills have adapted and grown.

The projects I have worked on have varied in complexity and size which has helped me become even more solution focused to ensure that my clients are getting the best results and outcomes for them. de Poel has also given me the opportunity to have formal project management training in regards to gaining my Prince 2 qualification and I hope to in the future progress this qualification to the next level.

My industry knowledge and presence would debate essays not be where it is today without the support of de Poel and along the way I’ve also been lucky enough to work alongside some great colleagues and form lasting friendships.”

Kristina Boyle

PR and Communications Consultant, de Poel group

“As an in-house PR and Communications Consultant at de Poel group, my role comprises of managing our reputation and engaging our stakeholders internally.

Personally, I have found there is more opportunity to grow and excel in an in-house role, where you can really get under the skin of the brand and understand what makes the company, your employer, tick – something I believe you can’t always do, working agency-side.

Since joining the company nearly three years ago as a Marketing Executive, I have been fortunate to be involved in a number of key milestones in the continued success of de Poel. From launching our first ever whitepaper for Local Government as we extended our offering to the public sector, to drafting a raft of award-winning submissions and founding our in-house press office – where I was subsequently appointed in this role – I have always felt part of something very exciting and palpable.

A big part of my role is managing de Poel’s presence at key events across a variety of industries, where I have felt honoured to be an ambassador, representing the company and our core values.

My career at de Poel has allowed me to carve out my niche as a PR professional in a highly-supportive environment, where commitment and hard work is always recognised and you can really push yourself to achieve more. Alongside the fantastic support of my line manager, we have a direct line to our Group MD, who fosters an open, collaborative environment, where all employees’ views and ideas are encouraged and valued.

The company’s ethos is to inspire, encourage and reward; I am very proud to be a part of de Poel, relishing the challenges, variety and opportunity that each day brings.”

Danielle Howson

Head of Operations, de Poel health+care

I joined de Poel as a temporary Office Manager soon after graduating from university, and quickly became a permanent member of the Support Services team. The combination of so much to learn, the fast-paced nature of the industry and the support of a great team in a busy, dynamic environment soon saw a year fly by.

Encouraged by my line manager, I put myself forward for the role of Account Manager and was delighted to be accepted.

The business has evolved substantially over the years but I have always been fortunate to have a constant support network at de Poel, and so, in my present role as Head of Operations, I strongly believe in leading by example and feel humbled to now be in the position to give something back and support my colleagues at the beginning of their careers at de Poel – just where I was seven years ago.
